What are veneers?

Traditional veneers are incredibly thin pieces of porcelain that can be customized in terms of size, shape, and color. While dental crowns are made to fit over an entire tooth, veneers cover the front of the teeth to instantly enhance their appearance. To prevent veneers from looking or feeling bulky, a small amount of enamel must be removed from any teeth that are getting veneers. Then, temporary veneers will be placed while your permanent veneers are designed and created. The entire process only takes a few weeks, and then your dream smile will be complete!

Are veneers cosmetic or restorative services?

Veneers can be used for both restorative and cosmetic purposes, just like dental crowns. If one or more of your front teeth have been damaged due to decay or dental trauma, a veneer can be a great way to protect the teeth and help them blend in with the rest of your smile. However, if you’d like to have veneers placed over all of the front teeth that show when you smile for a complete cosmetic makeover, our team would be happy to assist you with that as well!

How long do veneers last?

Veneers can last anywhere from 15 to 20 years when treated well. The best way to keep your veneers and natural teeth in great shape is by practicing great oral hygiene at home and visiting our office for routine cleanings and exams. We also recommend that you avoid chewing on things like hard candy and pencils or pen caps, and habits like biting fingernails and teeth grinding can also have an adverse effect on your teeth.
